Applications Open for AACC’s MTEL Programme 2026/2027
The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) has opened applications for its Master of Theology in Ecumenical Leadership (MTEL) for the 2026/2027 academic year. The MTEL Degree is an advanced programme designed to nurture a new generation of transformative church leaders across the continent. Offered in collaboration with St. Paul’s University, Kenya, the programme provides a unique one-year academic and formation experience. It brings together young theologians from diverse backgrounds into a vibrant ecumenical learning space where faith, leadership, and social engagement intersect.
The programme is intentionally structured to go beyond theological reflection. It equips participants with critical leadership skills necessary to serve effectively within regional and global ecumenical contexts. Through a blend of academic rigor, practical engagement, and intercultural exchange, students are prepared to respond to contemporary challenges facing the Church and society with competence, integrity, and innovation. At the heart of the MTEL programme is a commitment to holistic formation. Participants are not only exposed to advanced theological scholarship but are also nurtured as leaders capable of fostering unity, promoting dialogue, and driving impactful change within their communities and institutions. This approach ensures that graduates emerge as both reflective thinkers and practical change-makers.
The AACC invites qualified young theologians with a passion for ecumenism and leadership to take advantage of this opportunity. Applications for the 2026 August/September intake are open until 30th May 2026. Interested applicants can access the application form via the St. Paul’s University website. Applicants are advised to clearly indicate that they are applying for the Master of Theology in Ecumenical Leadership, select Limuru Campus (regular mode of study), and disregard item number four under the required attached documents section.
Recognizing the importance of shared responsibility in leadership development, the AACC encourages both self-sponsored applicants and nominations from Churches and Para-Church organizations. Supporting emerging leaders through this programme is an investment not only in individuals but in the future of the Church and its mission across Africa.
