AACC Highlights the Role of the ‘Africa: My Home. My Future.’ Campaign at the AYLDC in Addis Ababa

From 25th to 26th March 2026, 200 young leaders gathered at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa for the African Youth Leadership and Diplomacy Conference (AYLDC). The event provided a vibrant platform for dialogue, collaboration, and leadership development among African young people.

Representing the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), Ms. Mahlet Abrehem, AACC Programme Executive for the Horn of Africa Peace Project delivered a compelling address on youth, migration, and Pan-Africanism. Her address highlighted the role of the Pan-African Campaign on Africa: My Home. My Future. in challenging young people to rethink migration narratives and shift their agency from looking for opportunities to leave Africa to striving to lead, develop and flourish within Africa. She emphasized that the continent’s greatest strength lies in its youth, whose energy, ideas, and innovation are key to building the Africa We Want.

Participants were encouraged to see Africa not as a place to escape, but as a space of opportunity and responsibility. They were urged to take ownership of the continent’s challenges and translate their ideas into practical solutions rooted in African identity, collaboration, and innovation.
